This IMF Working Paper provides an update of evidence for developing countries on the magnitude of the welfare impact of subsidy reform and its distribution across income groups. The paper incorporates evidence from recent studies which confirm that a large share of benefits from price subsidies go to high-income households, further reinforcing existing income inequalities.
